26.11// Natural Woman – performance
26 November 2021 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
A performance at home by Gwen Kyrg
“Make yourself at home. Home is where the heart is. We’re in this together. We know it, we know it by heart. I know it by heart, have known it for ages. I’m a natural woman. On the I? ”
“Natural Woman” is a performance at home. About home. About this universal place that we humans have been experiencing for millennia. About women at home. About home as a battleground for housework and living together. About forms of living together. About toil and work. About domination and responsibility. Above all the contradictions and simultaneities of female experiences between prison and security, entanglement and connectedness. Being at home during the pandemic has made a whole range of oppression of people who are treated as women more visible worldwide. The medium of video conferencing is used and undermined in this performance at the same time: the webcams of the participants remain switched off, the screen sometimes takes a break. The audible takes over: “Let’s meet at the cooking-place.” The voice of Gwen Kyrg leads the participants through their own four walls. How does it feel to take off your shoes, wash your face, touch the stove, put your head down ? The two performers, Omayra Martińez Garzón in Buenos Aires and Li Lorian in Jerusalem, also play from home, using objects to tell about different locations in the apartment.
The performance begins one week before the performance date, so registration by November 17, 2021 is recommended. A computer or tablet and internet access are required for a barrier-free visit to the theater from home. The performance is in English, in simple language. (If required, a translation into German is available to read along.)
20 people can participate. Several participants in a household each need their own device.
