DINOSAUR JR. – consisting of guitar legend J. Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph – formed in 1985 in Amherst, Massachusetts, from members of the band Deep Wound, one of the toughest and youngest hardcore bands in the USA. The trio is one of the most influential bands of “alternative rock” and inspired like no other the rock scene on the American west coast in the nineties. Nirvana, Sonic Youth, they were all made by DINOSAUR JR. embossed. Their style and their unmistakable sound, which was later referred to as “grunge”, laid the foundation for the entire “slacker” culture of Generation X. The documentary tells the unique story of a legendary band, a dysfunctional family, around the taciturn and eccentric guitarist and Bandleader and his equally eccentric and introverted bandmates. Mascis, Bassist Lou Barlow und Drummer Murph – formierte sich 1985 in Amherst, Massachusetts, aus Mitgliedern der Band Deep Wound, einer der härtesten und jüngsten Hardcorebands der USA. Das Trio zählt zu den einflussreichsten Bands des “Alternative Rock” und inspirierte wie keine andere die Rockszene der amerikanischen Westküste in den neunziger Jahren. Nirvana, Sonic Youth, alle wurden sie von DINOSAUR JR. geprägt. Ihr Stil und ihr unverkennbaren Sound, der später als „Grunge“ bezeichnet wurde, legten den Grundstein der gesamten “Slacker” Kultur der Generation X. Die Doku erzählt die einzigartige Geschichte einer legendären Band, einer dysfunktionalen Familie, um den wortkargen und exzentrischen Gitarristen und Bandleader und seine gleichermaßen exzentrischen und introvertierten Bandkollegen.
