As the injustices of global health are more evident and grave today than ever before in history, “From Durban to Tomorrow” is a reminder of the mass protests of people living with HIV in Durban, South Africa, which in some cases radically changed the global landscape for human rights in health care two decades. These events in 2000 led to a number of significant advances in public health for marginalized people around the world. Yet in recent years many of these hard-won achievements have been severely undermined, putting tens of millions of lives at risk. In From Durban to Tomorrow, the stories of five frontline health advocates from different parts of the world underscore this rapidly worsening crisis and usher in the impending battle for a meaningful, universal human right to health.
