The young saxophonist Nubya Garcia (* 1992), shooting star from London’s melting pot, and the young, self-organizing London movement, which appears with their publications under the label “Jazz Re: freshed”, are making their Leipzig debut. Her debut album “Lost Kingdom” from 2017 was not only celebrated by the legend Gille Petterson as extremely remarkable.

With a firm grip, Garcia switches confidently and musically sensually between full speed ahead and intimate whispering, flying tones. With her follow-up album “Source” from autumn 2020, she once again proves a musical openness, willingness to accept and forward-thinking that makes the British with Caribbean roots one of the most sought-after protagonists in the current jazz world. Together with her band and with energetic coolness, the multi-talented composer repeatedly breaks the boundaries of jazz and sets them anew.
