Wheelchair skate day 2021
31 July 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
At Conne Island this Saturday there will be a wheelchair skating workshop for wheelchair users, families, friends and visitors.
Wheelchair skating originated in the USA, and took off as a sport when a video of Aaron Fortheringham’s wheelchair backflip went viral. Now you can try out this sport at Conne Island, with all the necessary equipment provided.
Two chair skaters, David Lebuser and Lisa Schmidt, will show how a wheelchair can be a cool piece of sports equipment. Demonstrating tricks and moves, they want to destroy negative prejudices about wheelchairs and build a more positive image.
This event is open to both people who are wheelchair users and other interested people who want to explore the Skatebowl in a new way.
Registration at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Equipment and protectors will be provided on site.
If you need support skating, feel free to bring a companion from your household. Please also remember your mouth and nose coverings, there will be some available on site if needed.
